Chrisanne Clover Made in London
London, a global hub for fashion and dance, has been the heart of Chrisanne Clover for over three decades. It is here, in this inspiring city, that we proudly design and create Chrisanne Clover Couture dresses, which adorn dance floors worldwide. Each dress is meticulously handcrafted to cater to the unique needs of the dancer, crafted from only the best Chrisanne Clover fabrics, trimmings, and the finest Swarovski® crystals.
The handcrafted nature of Chrisanne Clover Couture in London is of utmost importance. London is recognized globally for its commitment to quality, and we embody that standard. With nearly 3 decades of expertise infused into each dress made, every gown is unique and tailored specifically for the client. We use only the best Chrisanne Clover fabrics and Swarovski® crystals, supported by a dedicated team that ensures exceptional service, design and quality of product, making us proud to offer one of the finest experiences available worldwide.
The union flag represents quality, luxury and sophistication, and we were eager to incorporate it into our Made in London logo for immediate recognition. We take pride in our identity – subtle yet powerful – and we believe we have utilized the union flag within our branding in manner that truly reflects this essence.
We go beyond merely selling a dress; we offer an experience that invites you to be a part of something special. Many of our clients return time and again, eager to relive this unique journey with us.

We have dressed an incredible amount of talented dancers and champions over the years including iconic ladies such as Loraine Barry, Charlotte Jorgensen, Joane Bolton, Morena Colagreco, Carolina Yiling Tan, Monica Nigro, Natascha Karabey to the present day world Ballroom champion … Irina Cherepanova.
Each bespoke couture Ballroom dress contains around 40m of fabric, over 10,000 fine cut crystals from Swarovski®, combined with hours of hard work that makes each couture garment unique and one of a kind.
We have a fantastic couture team here at Chrisanne Clover who are all experts in their own field. We can have up to 6 people working on one dress at different points in its life. The pure construction of a dress can take 16-36 hours to make up a garment. It can also take an incredible 8 to 36 hours of crystallizing, depending on the complexity of the design. Our embellisher artists place each crystal by hand, using only the best Swarovski crystals.’
Giles Hatch, Chrisanne Clover Director

With the grace and elegance embodied in each dress, you know you can always step onto the floor with confidence, wearing a gown that is exquisite in execution, glamorous in appearance and always stands out from the crowd.

Chrisanne Clover Heritage
Renowned for his effervescent personality and entrepreneurial passion, Ronnie Li is one of the best-loved names in the world of Ballroom dancing and acquired Chrisanne Clover in 2015. But you won’t see his dazzling smile on the dance floor. Sure, at one time he had a go at competing, but he figured that his skills were better deployed in generating ideas and making things happen. Nowadays, based squarely on the business side of the footlights, he’s best known as Managing Director of Chrisanne Clover.
Introduced to the world of dance in China by his uncle, China’s ballroom star Philip Li, Ronnie grew up in Shanghai. Captivated by the ambition, drive and glamour of the dancing world Ronnie decided to take a bold step and move to London in 1995, the dance capital of the world, where he developed his business management skills at the dancewear company, Choice London.
Ronnie instantly fell in love with the dance business ‘I got myself more and more into it, my involvement was not just to make money but to make friends and make it enjoyable for myself. I am a very open person and I love to meet people from all over the world. I used to like seeing my friends and then they would give me orders and it combined the two beautifully.’
Ronnie Li’s first solo venture, Crystal Clover, had humble beginnings at a flat in Norbury, on the outskirts of London, but quickly spilled over into a shop nearby. In 2008, Crystal Clover Japan was born. By 2015, Ronnie Li had acquired Chrisanne, one of the best-known brands in the world of Ballroom dance; the two businesses merged to form Chrisanne Clover, a sparkling union that brought together innovation, knowledge, and heritage. In June the following year, the first Chrisanne Clover flagship store opened its doors in Shanghai.
Ronnie had known Chrisanne for many years. Although the two companies were competing in the same market Ronnie kept good relations with the Chrisanne team and prior to the merger the two businesses had in fact started to successfully work together on several projects. In 2015 the time was right for all parties, it was a textbook merger combining the strengths of two leading players in the industry and catapulting Ronnie into a number 1 position miles ahead of any other competitor.
Born from the frustration of sourcing fabrics to make dance dresses and the demand of the market, Chrisanne was born in 1986, set up by dancers Peter & Christina Dobner, and Hans & Anne Laxholm. Their combined knowledge and expertise became the early foundation of Chrisanne, and the basis for a corporate culture which focuses on dancers needs.
‘When we first started out the dance dresses had just changed from tutu dresses to long and flowing dresses and nobody knew how to make that look, or where to source the fabric. This is where we stepped in...’ Peter
A similar start as Crystal Clover, Chrisanne started in a 1 bedroom flat in Norbury but then grew rapidly to a head office and warehouse employing over 65 people and supplying dancing goods to more than 50 countries worldwide. This earned the business a place in the league of The Independents Top 100 companies in 1993 and 1995 as one of the fastest growing companies in the UK.
‘We have a great team at Chrisanne Clover, I am lucky enough to have very loyal people who have been working with myself and Peter, supporting us and the company for many years. Now I have a bigger platform to make and meet more friends. The excitement of being able to talk to people thousands of miles away to not only get an order, but to also make a friend is a huge achievement for me. I am very lucky.’ Ronnie
Ronnie Li lives by the mantra “Do what you love and then throw yourself into it fully, never stop improving yourself and the business, never be satisfied with being second best and – above all – make sure you have fun on the way!” And if the pandemic has anything to go by, now more than ever it is important to love what you do and surround yourself with positivity.

Performance Fabrics and Couture Dancewear
Our most recent ‘Made in London’ campaign celebrates the artistry and craftsmanship behind our couture dancewear, each dress meticulously created by skilled dressmakers in London. In the world of performance dresses, design is only part of the equation; it’s the fabrics that truly bring them to life on the dance floor.
Every dancer’s performance is a combination of strength, grace, and precision. To support each movement, we rely on the finest performance fabrics, including one of our most sought-after materials, Lycra. Lycra’s renowned elasticity allows dancers to move freely, executing intricate routines without restriction. Whether it’s the fluidity required in a ballroom waltz or the sharp precision needed for contemporary dance, the right fabric enhances both form and function, ensuring dancers feel as confident as they look.
But Lycra is not the only high-performance fabric we use. We carefully select a range of fabrics to meet the unique demands of each dress and routine. Materials like stretch crepe, stretch net, and georgette are key to ensuring comfort, durability, and visual appeal. These fabrics, alongside Lycra, are the hero fabrics of our 2025 dancewear collection. Stretch crepe provides a beautiful structure and smooth finish, while stretch net adds texture and breathability, perfect for intricate movements. Georgette, known for its soft flow and elegance, brings an ethereal quality to each design. Together, these fabrics deliver maximum flexibility, breathability, and a flawless fit, allowing dancers to perform at their best without ever feeling restricted.
Durability is just as important as flexibility. Lycra retains its shape even after countless movements, ensuring that your dress remains just as striking after hours of performance as it did the first time you put it on. The 4 way stretch fabric provides a flattering fit that moves seamlessly with the body, supporting comfort and performance in equal measure. Whether it’s the subtle sheen of Lustre Lycra or the matte finish of Matt Lycra, the fabrics we use maintain their striking appearance throughout the dance, offering a beautiful balance of function and style.
Our couture dresses merge the rich tradition of couture tailoring with innovative performance fabric technology. Crafted by expert dressmakers in London, each dress combines the finest craftsmanship with the latest in high-performance materials like Lycra, stretch crepe, stretch net, and georgette. This careful fusion ensures that each piece not only meets the demands of performance but also stands as a statement of luxury design. The fabric works seamlessly with the dancer’s body, allowing full freedom of movement while maintaining the dress’s structure and elegance. Every detail, from the stitches to the seams to the fabric choice, is meticulously considered to create a garment that elevates both the art of dance and the art of dressmaking. The result is a couture dress that delivers exceptional comfort, durability, and timeless style.
Our "Made in London" campaign is a testament to the pride we take in our heritage. To us, being "Made in London" is not just a label - it’s a mark of the exceptional skill, dedication, and creativity that defines our work. London has long been a hub of craftsmanship and innovation, and for Chrisanne Clover, it’s where our couture dancewear is born. As Giles explains in our video, London is synonymous with precision, and each dress we create reflects this legacy. From the initial design to the final stitch, every piece is crafted by skilled dressmakers who blend traditional techniques with modern fabric technology. It’s this fusion that ensures each dress not only performs at the highest level but remains a stunning example of luxury design.
The 2025 dancewear collection continues this tradition, offering the same meticulous craftsmanship that has become synonymous with our couture pieces. Designed for both practice and performance, the new range brings together comfort, flexibility, and timeless style, with Lycra, stretch crepe, stretch net, and georgette woven into each design to ensure dancers experience maximum freedom of movement and lasting durability. Discover the 2025 collection here and experience the luxury, performance, and durability that defines the Chrisanne Clover brand.

Who are Chrisanne Clover?
Founded originally as Chrisanne in 1986, now Chrisanne Clover is a dynamic company rooted in the competitive ballroom dancing scene, specialising in high-quality dance fabrics and costumes. Founded by passionate dancers, the company has evolved to become a leader in its niche, committed to quality, innovation, and collaboration.
Their story ????
Chrisanne Clover was born from the shared vision of two dancing couples who noticed a big gap in the market for dance-specific fabrics. Before they came along, dancers often struggled to find matching materials across different shops, making costume creation a bit of a hassle. This challenge inspired them to create a one-stop solution for the dance community, making it easier for dancers to find everything they need in one place.
How they started ????
The journey began when the founders, driven by their passion for dance, decided to fill the void in the market.
As Giles Hatch, Executive Director, says, “We realised that creating costumes shouldn’t be a struggle; it should be an enjoyable part of the dance experience.”
By combining their expertise and insights from the competitive dancing world, they set out to provide high-quality, matching fabrics tailored specifically for dancers.
What focus means to them
For Chrisanne Clover, focus is all about keeping a clear vision and making sure their actions match their goals.
Giles puts it simply: “Focus, to me, means always keeping the ultimate goal in mind and making sure your actions line up with it. You might need to change your approach along the way, but the goal stays the same.”
He highlights that this dedication to focus has really helped shape their business strategies and spark innovation.
The challenges ????
As Chrisanne Clover grew, they faced a few challenges along the way. One of the big ones was managing the rapid expansion after merging with Crystal Clover in 2015. Bringing teams together and adjusting to the new dynamics required a thoughtful approach to keep everyone’s spirits high and productivity flowing.
“Change can be daunting,” says Giles, “but it also opens up opportunities for growth and improvement.”
On top of that, the competitive landscape called for a unique product that balanced creativity with quality.
“We always have to find that sweet spot between excitement and durability. Our costumes need to hold up to the demands of competition while still looking absolutely stunning,” he adds.
The solutions ✅
To address these challenges, Chrisanne Clover focused on four key areas:
Quality: They are committed to providing the best products and exceptional customer service. Integrity: Honesty and ethical practices are central to their culture. People: The company prioritised hiring individuals with the right attitude and passion, recognising that their team is the heart of the business. Collaboration: Open communication and alignment among team members encourages a sense of ownership and creativity.Giles points out a major shift in their management strategy, saying, “A key change in focus happened a couple of years before COVID, and it was all about people and management development. Instead of just training people to fix their weaknesses, we started concentrating on what they naturally excel at.”
He notes that this approach has really boosted productivity and workplace satisfaction, adding, “When people work in their strengths, it not only benefits them but the whole organisation.”
Breathe plays a key role in how Chrisanne Clover runs things day-to-day by encouraging individual responsibility throughout the business. With Breathe, each department can handle its own workflow, which means team members can approve their holidays and breaks without getting caught up in a long approval process.
As Giles puts it, “This autonomy creates a sense of self-responsibility and keeps everyone accountable for what they do.”
On top of that, Breathe gives useful insights into personal data, like sickness reports, which helps keep things clear across the team.
Giles really appreciates how unobtrusive Breathe is, saying, “It operates seamlessly in the background, supporting team management without being intrusive.” He adds, “Overall, Breathe is a reliable tool that everyone knows how to use, fitting perfectly with our focus on trust and accountability.”
The results ????
The focus on quality has really paid off for Chrisanne Clover. They’ve built a solid reputation in the dance community, known for their innovative approach and dedication to quality.
“We’ve created a brand that dancers not only trust but also feel proud to be a part of,” says Giles.
The customer feedback has been great, consistently highlighting the perfect blend of excitement and quality in what they offer.
The future ????
Looking ahead, Chrisanne Clover is excited to keep growing while adapting to the changing market landscape. They recognise that moving towards a more digital approach can be challenging, especially as customer engagement shifts from in-person experiences to online platforms.
Giles is clear about the path they want to take: “We’re focused on enhancing our website and boosting our social media presence to connect with customers around the globe.”
He envisions a future where Chrisanne Clover stays true to its core values of integrity, quality, and collaboration, even after he moves on.
“I’d be proud to know that the principles we’ve built will carry on long after I’m gone,” he adds.
As they navigate the fast-changing dancewear industry, Chrisanne Clover is all about exploring new ways to reach and engage customers. Their commitment to the dance community remains strong, and they aim to uphold their reputation as a market leader while fostering a culture of creativity, responsibility, and trust.
Giles sums it up nicely: “At the end of the day, it’s about making a positive impact in the lives of dancers and creating products that inspire them.”
